Parks and Resorts
Jardin d’Acclimatation – A Historic Amusement & Botanical Park
Nestled in the Bois de Boulogne, the Jardin d’Acclimatation is a unique blend of history, nature, and family-friendly attractions. Originally founded in 1860 under the patronage of Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, this park was designed as both a zoological and botanical garden for the Parisian aristocracy.
A Journey Through Time
Initially designed by Davioud and Barillet Deschamps, the park once showcased exotic flora in its hothouses, rare animal species, and even members of indigenous tribes from distant lands—an exhibition reflecting the 19th-century curiosity for the unknown.
Following the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, the park evolved into a recreational space, shifting its focus from exotic zoology to a playground for children and families.
Today, the Jardin d’Acclimatation embraces its botanical and cultural heritage, while maintaining its reputation as one of Paris’ most cherished amusement parks.
